Absorption of Vitamins/Minerals

An investigation of the effects of fulvic and humic acids on the absorption of selected drugs, vitamins and minerals using the everted mouse gut model.

It can be claimed that the presence of the fulvic or humic acid do have significant effects on the absorption of the different drugs and vitamins which are generally lower than the controls but enhances the ionic mineral absorption significantly. Both these outcomes highlight the fact that both health professionals and patients should be made aware of the fact that concomitant administration of prescription drugs and any humic substances will probably lead to altered bio-availability which could affect the clinical outcome of the drugs.
